Te Hau Kōmaru National Waka Hourua Festival

E kau ki te tai e

Te Hau Kōmaru National Waka Hourua Charitable Trust is hosting our third National Waka Hourua Festival in Kaiteretere from 6th – 14th April 2024!

Supported By

He terenga waka, he hokinga mahara

The festival is a celebration of waka hourua, bringing together waka from across Aotearoa (New Zealand) and inviting all our whanaunga from Te Moana nui a Kiwa.

It is a gathering of heritage, craftsmanship, waka workshops, interactive activities, and a platform for waka experts to share mātauranga waka with Te Tauihu o te Waka a Māui.

Kia ora tonu ngā taonga tuku iho

We hope that through the festival we raise awareness and educate people about the cultural significance and history of waka hourua, providing access to expert knowledge and fostering a deeper understanding of waka hourua traditions to keep it alive for generations to come.

He kaupapa kia whakapiripiri, kia whakanuia!
