1.What is your tupuna waka and the waka you currently are kaitiaki for?
My tūpuna waka are Takitimu, Araiteuru and Uruao. I currently care for Hauteruruku waka at Puketeraki.
2. What is your favourite waka saying?
We’re simple folk at Puketeraki and quote lines from the Disney movie “Moana” all the time.
But, to sum it up for me is “putting the waka first”.
3. What is your role and responsibility as the representative of your rohe on Te Hau Kōmaru Board?
I represent the southern region of Te Waipounamu o Raro.
4. What do you hope to achieve?
I hope of building up our Ngāi Tahu sailing capacity in the Araiteuru/ Murihiku rohe, and build through relationships to established Voyaging Societies throughout Te Moananui ā Kiwa.
