My waka is Takitimu and I am a kaitiaki for Te Pahore o Rehua.
2. What is your favourite waka saying?
He herenga waka, he whitiwhiti whakaaro, he whitiwhiti kōrere. E tu ko te maramatanga.
The binding of waka is the sharing of thoughts and of stories. From this comes understanding.
3. What is your role and responsibility as the representative of your rohe on Te Hau Kōmaru Board?
Representing the Tairāwhiti rohe, my current responsibility is developing crew capacity, within the kaupapa of waka hourua.
4. What do you hope to achieve?
I hope to see more people participate in waka sailing and learning about our waka culture to help and encourage our current crew members achieve their aspirations to become skippers and watch captains of waka hourua.
